Road

Paderborn lies on the A33 which joins the A2 (Ruhrgebiet-Hannover) with the A 44 (Dortmund-Kassel).

Autobahn (motorway) exits:
- PB-Sennelager
- PB-Schloß Neuhaus
- PB-Elsen
- PB-Zentrum
- PB-Mönkeloh.

Paderborn can be reached by Bundesstraßen (federal highways - British 'A' roads):

  • B 64 easterly direction (Höxter, Bad Driburg) and northwesterly direction (Münster, Rheda-Wiedenbrück).
  • B 68 from the South East (Warburg)
  • B 1 from the North East (Hameln, Horn-Bad Meinberg) and from the West (Soest, Geseke, Salzkotten).
  • B 480 Southerly direction (Brilon)

Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport

Paderborn-Lippstadt airport (approx. 15km from Paderborn city centre) has scheduled and chartered flights to around 25 German and European destinations. There are several fligths daily to the international hub airports of Frankfurt/Main, Munich and Copenhagen.

The following bus services run between the airport and Paderborn's main railway station:

  • 460 (approx. every hour, weekends every 2 hours, journey time approx. 35 mins direct connection to Paderborn)
  • 400 (Mondays to Saturdays approx. every 2 hours; journey time approx. 20 mins)


Rail

Paderborn's Hauptbahnhof is an Inter Regional Station (IR) on the Kassel-Altenbeken-Hamm-Dortmund line.

Local trains run from Paderborn to Bielefeld, Altenbeken, Hannover, Detmold, Warburg, Kassel, Soest, Hamm and Münster.

The nearest stations with Inter City (IC) or Inter City Express (ICE) connections are Bielefeld (approx. 50 km) and Hamm (approx. 75 km), Dortmund (approx. 100 km), Kassel-Wilhelmshöe (approx. 100 km) and Hannover (approx. 130 km).
